The paper examines effects of prosperity gospel on contemporary Nigerian Christian church and society. It discussed its historical origin noted that it was birthed in USA since the seventies now spreading among churches society like corona virus. study used descriptive methods analysis. discovered most teachings are misused, thus, giving a false impression interpretation about what Bible really teaches. Finding revealed that, way gives one sense hope, direction reassurance life lives can get better if only have faith God. Equally, observed preachers or quite correct pointing believers to God wonderful promises made his word order their needs met. However, many these misused for monetization, lust materialism, crimes selfish advantages thereby impoverishing congregation more rather than improving lots. This in-turn has reduced spiritual moral capacity people work recommended other thing purpose today should focus doctrinal issues related desire kingdom God, soul-winning, salvation man, hard good conduct materialism commercialization religious activities.
